For the past 3 years we have had been blessed to enjoy a family vacation in Orlando, Florida. Our first evening there as a family in 2009, was a magical night that kicked off our vacation at dinner with Cinderella at the Grand Floridian Hotel and Resort at Disney World. Every time we have visited, Addie and her Daddy get their picture taken together in front of the bird cage in the lobby. Can you believe how much she has grown up?!?

We had a trial run the other day... I would load the spoon up with some yummy goodness and Eli would take the spoon and feed himself. More times that not, he hit his mouth, but by the end of the chocolate pudding tasting session he looked like a hot mess! Tonight we tried out applesauce and allowed him to fly solo with spoon and bowl. He loved it, especially the praise of mommy and big sister cheering him on after each bite.

These two are the best gifts I have ever found next t0 my Christmas tree. God is so good and we are so blessed to be the parents of these two amazing children. We do not take our role as their parents lightly, and thank God each day for entrusting them to us. The Christmas holiday season just warms our hearts with each passing year to experience it through their innocence and their excitement.

Should We or Shouldn't We... That is the Question!?!

"Should!" according to the man of the house. Doug has been harassing me for months now to start blogging again. I'm taking the plunge and trying my hand at it over winter break, while I have some extra time off work. A LOT has changed since my last post in March. Eli has turned one, I have a new job and we have a new home... gee-whiz, I wonder why I haven't had time to blog??? Here is a quick recap of pictures from March - December to catch you all up on the Reusser household:

I had the opportunity to return to Nicaragua. I took my good friend Lauri with me and I got to visit with all of my sponsor students. We helped with construction and taught English and art classes at one of the NRN schools. I "Heart" Nicaragua!!!

Doug and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary...

My sister, Mandy, in from Doha, Qatar with her family were home for the summer...

This curve that boys are measured on verses girls, throws me for a loop. When the doctor told me Eli was only in the 50th percentile, I was a little shocked. I feel like a have a big baby, but apparently not! If I'm honest though, looking back at Addie's numbers at the same age, ol' girl outweighed him by over 2lbs and had a good inch on him. She was always in the 90th+percentile at her check ups during that first year. I guess she really is his big sister!

My camera was accidentally left in Terre Haute for 3+ weeks... AHHH!!! It felt like a part of my body had been severed without my handy Canon in my hand. Me loves me ELEPH!

Addie, Eli & I hosted a Valentines Day party for our play group. Sixteen kids on a sugar high after being cooped up in their homes for a week due to the ice storm... Woozas, mama needs a drink! (It's now March 9th, and I still have yet to bring down the 9 foot red, pink & purple glittered holiday banner adorning my kitchen... tomorrow, tomorrow, it'll get done!)

Addie turned 4 1/2 and was given the royal treatment by Nana & Grampy. They decorated their house with banners and posters, had a pizza party and treated little miss to cupcakes and a new Repunzel doll.

Chris & April hosted a Super Bowl Party in honor of our boys in green & gold...

And our boys delivered! GO PACK!!!

Addie and I shared a fun girls morning out. I surprised her with a trip to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. (Thanks daddy for setting up the appointment for us!) She ate it up! She picked the blonde locks, because she thought she looked like Rupunzel. It was an absolute delight watching her get pampered. She literally pranced around the rest of the day!

We visited Sea World several different days and had a blast each time. The weather was gorgeous and we basically had the park to ourselves. Addie rode Shamu Express - the roller coaster - close to 10 times each day! The park attendants ate her up. She would get locked into her seat and then she'd give them a thumbs up that "Maverick" was ready to rock! Daddy and Mommy took turns as "Goose" her wingman.

Addie will be 4 1/2 in February. We know she's ours, and we would be proud and brag on her accomplishments no matter what they might be, but we think she is kind of on the smart side of the spectrum. This morning she put the entire 50 states puzzle together on her own... twice! She can tell you what states she has visited and point them out. Doug has started doing math with her and she loves it. She still enjoys reading and asks how to spell all kinds of words. She just amazes us on a daily basis. We are so encouraged by her love of learning!

They definitely resemble each other. As a sister and brother, I think they will look a lot alike growing up, just male and female versions of each other. Eli's eyelashes are growing long and are darkening around his big blue eyes... thank you Daddy! They both have the same coloring with a slight reddish tint to their hair... thank you Mommy! They both have dimples... thank you Mommy & Daddy!

Can you believe it... 8 weeks old!?! I am such a good little man for my mommy and daddy. I have started sleeping through the night and have gotten into a good daily routine of naps and feedings. I think my big sister is the bee's knees and I love watching her play games, make art projects, and run around with mommy and daddy. I am a little stinker... literally... I think it's really funny to poop my pants and make mommy change them. I just laugh and smile the whole time she is elbow deep in the good stuff! I am very strong and really enjoy "talking" to animals on my activity mat. I have my two month appointment on Thursday, so I'll keep you posted on how much I've grown since my 2 week appointment.

We spent all weekend making dozens of cookies and treats as a family! Here are some of the haystacks we made. Our family is a big fan of the butterscotch morsels!

At playgroup on Thursday we exchanged dozens of cookies and got the chance to share cookies with friends and family throughout the holiday season. It has been fun being able to take Addie to the last couple of playgroups. Eli made his debut at the holiday cookie and book exchange. Great friends and even better company! Our household is officially in full holiday mode. Addie loves the snow and all of the decorations. It is T - 18 days until the main event and she can't hardly stand the wait! Doug and I are eating every bit of her childhood innocence up. It truly is magical to see her eyes light up at the very mention of Santa Claus. She plays with her nativity scene every day and examines each ornament on the tree, pointing to and declaring a new favorite each evening as the lights are twinkling. Our Elf on the Shelf (aka Elfie) is the miracle magic worker for good behavior. She skips down the stairs each morning in anticipation of where Santa's little helper will be located and double checks herself throughout the day that he saw or heard how good she was. Happy Holidays... Ho! Ho! Ho!

3 Weeks Old...

Every time I dress him in this outfit, I think of a bumble bee and then I start humming, "All I can say is that my life is pretty plain. I like watching the puddles gather rain..."

Eli enjoys time on his play mat each day. It's funny because he has begun to knock the little characters around. He pretty much has it out for the red bird and gives him a good work over, even fussing at him!

2 Weeks Old...

Eli had his two week appointment and the boy is growing!!!

In the 6 days since he last visited the doctor's office, he had gained 1.3 lbs and grown over an inch. Most newborns his age are consuming ~20 oz of breast milk/formula in a day. Our line backer guzzles down between 24 and 32 oz a day! It makes for some really entertaining farts, but he sleeps and naps like a champ, so I'm not complaining in the least. A full baby, is a happy baby!

Mother Hen...

Addie has never, and I mean never, played with dolls. In fact, this is the only doll she owns. Her name is Baby... original I know. Addie obviously didn't check the census list of most popular names for baby dolls before deciding on this one. But lo and behold, she is very much interested in everything a mother does these days in regards to feeding, changing, rocking and caring for a baby. We are defiantly experiencing some monkey see, monkey do behavior these days. Baby doll is making up for lost time and enjoying Addie's new found love of "mommyhood." Addie is an amazing kid and an even more amazing big sister!

I took the last week off of work, thinking that little man was going to arrive. We stayed busy, in hopes that it would shake something lose and send me into labor... mission failed! We did however get the chance to spend a lot of quality family time together before our household of three grows to a family of four.

We were hoping for a little pumpkin in October, but looks like we'll be happy with a tiny butterball in November. For all of you ladies out there who have been 38 weeks pregnant, maybe you can relate. I skipped (waddled) into my Dr appointment today with the pipe dream that I'd get my examine and within minutes I'd be whisked by my husband off to the hospital for delivery of our little bundle of joy... NOT! I have to admit, I'm disappointed, but have learned that Angie's timing and agenda isn't always God's timing and agenda. I just need to be patient. For heaven's sake, we are in the single digits for days remaining in the pregnancy and I'm acting like I've got months to go. I return to the Dr in 5 days for a reexamine and with fingers crossed, will be induced on Wednesday afternoon. Have I mentioned I am soooo eager to hold little man in my arms and love on him nonstop!?! Is it Wednesday yet!?!

Last Tuesday was a fun filled evening with family and friends. We headed to dinner with mommy's co-workers and all of their kiddos before heading over to the Hamilton Co 4-H Fall Festival. Tuesday is also dance night, so mommy talked me into incorporating my ballet costume into the evenings festivities... very sneaky. You know I'm supposed to be Jessie from Toy Story this year for Halloween and I have a sneaky suspicion that she wasn't done with my costume yet. No worries, I was completely enthralled with the games, prizes, face painting and candy treats that I could have been wearing a burlap sack and have cared less. Good times!!!

Quick Update...

Yes, I have become that blogger... you know the one that doesn't seem to ever have a spare moment to update the world on what's been happening in our household. It's just down right pathetic and we really do have a lot to share. It's been a month since my last post and that saddens me. There is nothing more irritating than stalking someone's blog only to be disappointed with no new pictures or updates.

In my defense, I haven't quite mastered the conversion to the Mac. I know, I know, I'm pushing 2 months with this beautiful piece of technology, but seriously who has time to wait in line at the Apple store for 3 hours to get some tutorial time with one of the nerd herd members that's going to be speaking "geek" to me... especially when PB Kids is around the corner and in my personal opinion, it's sooo much more fun shopping there!

On the baby front, I am pleasantly plump and Eli is cookin' away with ~ 41/2 weeks until he arrives. The induction date isn't set in stone, but most likely will be at 38 weeks, which puts us in the first week of November. I am feeling good now that I'm over my sinus infection. I am just so ready to hold little man in my arms and be able to love, love, love on him. "Nesting" finally set in this past weekend and I'm pretty sure you could eat off of my garage floor it is so clean and organized. I don't understand why it takes the "Clean Sweep" team on TLC a weekend to whip an organized spaced out... any pregnant lady could do it in 2 hours flat!

So I guess I just didn't want all of you to think that I was sitting around eating bon-bons, getting foot massages, doing nothing. We are alive and well in the Reusser household. I just haven't been snapping pictures of everything we head out to do. Hopefully we will start working on the nursery soon and I will have some pictures to post.

Okay, they got me... I mean they REALLY GOT ME!!! Saturday afternoon, I walked into Amber's home thinking we were headed to lunch and to see a movie, but the "A Team" (Amber, Alli & Amy) had other plans. I was absolutely moved to tears when I realized that the kitchen was full of some of my favorite ladies gathered to celebrate the upcoming arrival of Little Man Eli. They hosted a surprise baseball themed luncheon and put so much time and effort into every detail... If you haven't caught on from other blog posts (There's only hundreds of them!) I L-O-V-E each of these ladies more than I will ever be able to show them or tell them!

Needless to say I was pretty emotional the entire afternoon. Not only do all of these gals shower my life with laughter, love and friendship, but today they showered me with gifts for little man. I have prayed and prayed for our family to be blessed with a baby for so many years, that I think actually celebrating the upcoming arrival of our baby, was just beyond what my heart could handle wrapped up into one afternoon. "Water Works" is the nickname I'm giving myself... Really, it was a little embarrassing how much I teared up throughout the afternoon. Thank goodness for waterproof mascara. It is such a blessing to have so many supportive and caring people to help our family celebrate Eli's life. I can't wait for each of them to meet him!

After school, tattoos and all, we went to Yo-Gi, our favorite little treat on Tuesday afternoons. Addie always opts for frozen yogurt with sprinkles and jelly beans. My personal favorite is piled high with fresh fruit and granola... yum! We had the opportunity to meet up with twin boys in Addie's class. One of them I have heard a lot about, because his name is Eli. As we were leaving and saying our goodbyes, Eli told his mom that he was pretty sure he loved Addie. Sooo cute!

Man alive was this girl fired up for her first day of preschool. Addie thinks it's pretty cool that she gets to use a backpack and be in a real classroom in the same school where all of the big kids go. She has been so excited to start her "learning" as she refers to it, that she has been counting down the days for the past week. She has also reminded us each day that it's only for kids... no mommies, no daddies, no nanas and no grampies are allowed to go to her school. I'm able to post this update this afternoon simply because she has crashed in the middle of the floor surrounded by her Barbies. God, I love that kid!!!

We are just coming home from an amazing anniversary celebration. We stayed downtown at the Conrad Hotel and had dinner at St. Elmos. Doug & I decided to eat at the local landmark, because we can't call ourselves bona fide Hoosiers and not have eaten there before. Doug opened the sealed envelope at dinner and we have just been on cloud 9 since.

We slept in this morning and walked to breakfast at Cafe Patachou. From there we headed to Keystone at the Crossing for some shopping and lunch at the Cheesecake Factory.

We have decided on a name, in case you are interested... With all of the Lebron hype this weekend, we were leaning towards Lebron James Reusser, but have opted for Elijah Stone Reusser. Elijah means the Lord is my God, I just love this! We will call him Eli. Stone is for Phyllis's father, Grandpa John.

It's still so hard to wrap my head around this pregnancy and knowing I'm brewing a little champ inside me right now. I feel so blessed to be healthy and to know that in a few short months, we will be welcoming our son into our family. Thank you for your continued prayers.

We spent the 4th of July with the Warners. It was low key, but we very much enjoyed ourselves. We kicked off the afternoon with the parade and headed to the local festival at the high school. I liked this photo the best because I feel like the baby is laughing... a sense of humor is essential in this household!

Here is a live video feed of the heartbeat, which was 146. The baby's heartbeat has consistently stayed between 145-155. It's always such a beautiful blessing to hear that pitter-patter come across the audio waves.

For those of you wondering, we did not find out the sex of the baby today. You will have to wait a couple more weeks for that big announcement. In case you don't know this fact, I LOVE SURPRISES! I think as a mother the greatest surprise is finding out the sex of the baby the moment they are placed in your arms at birth. However, I have married a man who is a planner by nature and can't stand the wait of 9 loooooong months... it's pure torture for him! I have made a compromise (I'll admit a little more willing this time around) with Doug that I would give him this surprise for our anniversary gift later this summer on July 14th. The results are sealed in an envelope and hidden away from him. Stay tuned!!!

Friday afternoon, we visited Emily at the barn. Addie had been looking forward to riding a "real" horse all week! I was sooo proud of her. We started off with a little bit of bad luck. Tommy the horse is a fan of carrots and peppermints... who knew!?! Addie was very eager to share her candy with her new friend, but Tommy was a little bit more eager and bit Addie's pinkie finger. She was balling! We had to ice her finger because it started to swell and bruise, but within minutes she was calmed down and ready to ride... no hurt feelings, just a bruised ego. Emily did any amazing job explaining everything to Addie and made our afternoon adventure a true highlight of our week. Addie is still talking about riding Tommy and meeting all of the other horses at the barn! Thanks Emily!

We had some absolutely gorgeous days on our trip to the cabin. It was so awesome to spend the day outside with all of the kids, playing on the beach, ATV rides, running around and swimming in the hot tub. It was the first time we've had all of the cousins together at the cabin and Addie was in heaven! She pretty much thinks her cousins are rock stars!

We started off the day with a carriage ride around the island.
As you can see there are 3 modes of transportation on the island: foot, bike or horse. Addie was in hog heaven with all of the horses. She kept referring to the afternoon as our trip to the "real" horse island.

Well, I will have to say that the park grounds and the play areas at Deming park have improved greatly since my days as a summer camp counselor. Lord only knows how many hours, sunburns and beads of sweat were lost during my college work days at this park. She traveled all the way from Nicaragua to speak on behalf of NRN. She is an amazing interpreter and was able to attend school, including college because of NRN sponsorships. (And yes, I had to squat 2 feet so I didn't look like a giant next to her in the picture!)

Monica and I traveled to Nicaragua together last summer, it was so nice catching up with her. And then there is Tammy... I can't say enough about Mz Snyder. Over the past 9 years we have coached high school cheerleading together, served on committees for school and now attend church and NRN functions together.

The event was a huge success for NRN. We bid on several auction items and actually won them, which was fun. The food was great and the company was fabulous.

Friends and Family Challenge Update...

One week has passed and we are rejoicing in the great things that have been happening since we started this challenge just last week! Even though I will not be able to travel to Nicaragua this year, I feel that God just keeps telling me to stay involved and to serve. On Wednesday I meet with a small group of people who are dedicated to both our church and to NRN. We will be part of a committee, stateside, that helps arrange and plan mission trips, promote sponsorships of students and teachers, establish contacts for sponsors, and create opportunities for supporters of NRN to meet regularly to break bread, create care packages and generate support for mission teams.

Needles to say, I left the meeting exhilarated and excited about this opportunity that God and the church have provided for me in my life. It's hard to believe that just 1 year ago, I looked at Doug and said, "Baby, I'm pretty sure, I'm supposed to go to Nicaragua this summer." I had no idea the impact this decision would have on my life, but I can't help but think this is the start of a beautiful and fulfilling journey.

Say hello to some of the greatest kids EVER! These are a handful of faithful, compassionate students at Sand Creek Intermediate. They are members of our Fellowship of Christian Students that meets every other Tuesday morning of the school year. This year's theme was "The Fruit of the Spirit" and boy did they take their lessons to heart.

Back in February I had the opportunity to share my mission trip to Nicaragua with our FCS group. We decided as a team we would help raise money for the family that Doug and I sponsor through the Nicaragua Resource Network (NRN). The students held a fundraising walk before school and in 20 minutes, these 5th and 6th graders raised $503.50.

As a family, Doug and I have pledged to match the amount they have raised, $503.50. We have decided that living a life of excess isn't in our family's best interest. We will be cleaning out closets, our attic and garage and posting items on Craig's List, EBay and may even hold a garage sale to raise our portion of the donation contribution.

Our challenge to you, our friends and family, is to help us raise an additional $503.50 in the next 2 weeks. We are attending the annual NRN Fundraising Gala on Thursday May 20th. We are so excited to announce that we are pregnant! I am turning the corner on 14 weeks and feeling like I'm on the top of the world. We are beyond thrilled and Addie keeps referring to herself as "the big sister." We have had countless ultrasounds and bi-weekly doctor appointments. Each one has confirmed that we have a healthy, steadily growing peanut! It has been a long time coming and we are so happy to share this moment with all of you who have kept us in your prayers and been such a support system this past year and half. We love you all and praise God for having a master plan that only he can orchestrate.

Mama Side Note: When asked, Addie thinks the baby just has to be a little sister. Her name... Celery. (That is NOT a typo!)
